Everyone Lines Up for the Bull. I Went Looking for the Girl

This morning in New York—18-degree weather, wind cutting through the Financial District—I went looking for something with intention. I wanted to see Charging Bull. But more than that, I wanted to find Fearless Girl.

Years ago, she stood directly in front of the bull—small, defiant, unflinching. A young girl staring down power, profit, and the kind of unchecked greed Wall Street can sometimes represent. She made people uncomfortable. So they moved her.

Today, the bull still draws crowds. Lines on both ends—people waiting for photos, for luck, for tradition. But when I reached the Fearless Girl—now standing just outside the New York Stock Exchange—there was only one man and his son ahead of me.

    • She was smaller than I imagined.
    • Still defiant.
    • Still staring up… or perhaps staring down.
    • And it struck me how often that happens.
    • We line up for the symbols of power.
    • We rush toward what’s loud, familiar, and celebrated.

And we quietly overlook the courage it takes to stand alone—especially when that courage looks like a woman or a girl.

    • As a woman.
    • As a business owner.
    • As someone who has chosen a path that didn’t come with guarantees…
    • I stood there to pay respect.
    • Not just to her—but to the version of myself I’m still becoming.

So I’ll ask you what I’m asking myself as we head into 2026:

What are you doing to live fearlessly? Where are you standing your ground—even when it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable, or unnoticed? And how are you honoring the kind of courage that doesn’t always draw a crowd? I found her. And she reminded me why being fearless still matters.
